To Our Market Street Creatives Vendor Family,
I want to take a moment to address an incident that recently occurred because it serves as an important reminder for all of us.
One of our customers was mistakenly identified as having stolen merchandise and was publicly accused on social media before all of the facts had been verified. It was later determined that the customer had legitimately purchased their item, and the accusation was incorrect.
We all understand how frustrating theft can be. Unfortunately, every retail environment deals with it, and protecting your business is important. However, it is equally important that we protect innocent customers from being wrongly accused.
Effective immediately, if you suspect that merchandise has been stolen:
- Do not post photos or videos of suspected individuals on social media.
- Do not publicly accuse anyone of theft unless law enforcement has been involved and the facts have been confirmed.
- If you believe an item is missing, notify Market Street management immediately so we can help review security footage, receipts, and transaction records before any conclusions are reached.
- Remember that not every missing item is the result of theft. Merchandise can be sold, misplaced, moved, or involved in inventory errors.
Our camera system exists to help protect everyone—our vendors, our employees, and our customers. It should be used responsibly and as part of a fact-finding process, not as a tool for public accusations.
Every customer who walks through our doors deserves to feel welcome and safe. A single mistaken accusation can damage someone’s reputation and can also affect the reputation of every business operating within Market Street Creatives.
As such, we have a new policy that is attached for your review – CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD
We are asking everyone to use patience, professionalism, and good judgment whenever a situation like this arises. If you have concerns, Rob, Lynn, or I are always available to help investigate before any action is taken.
Thank you all for helping us maintain the positive, welcoming community that has made Market Street Creatives such a special place.
